Achieving a Settlement through Divorce Mediation

In the mediation process, a mediator (Settlement Master) works with the parties to uncover areas of agreement and disagreement in the areas of property division, child custody, visitation and spousal support. The mediator then tries to guide the parties to agreement on the outstanding issues.

Our firm can explain the mediation process and help you determine if it is right for you. If you to seek a mediated settlement, we can prepare you for the mediation sessions and advise you during the process. Our goal will be to protect your rights and help you achieve a prompt, fair and practical settlement.

Collaborative Law and Divorce

In recent years, collaborative law has increasingly been used in to resolve outstanding issues in divorce. In the collaborative law process, each party agrees to use the process in the effort to come to an agreement regarding such matters as property division, child custody and visitation. Each party is represented by a lawyer, and all four individuals work to achieve a workable settlement in an atmosphere of respect and cooperation. Collaborative law has the potential to achieve an overall settlement at a lower financial cost, with less emotional stress.

We can represent you in the process to protect your rights and achieve a settlement that enables you to move forward after divorce in the most positive manner possible. Our attorney, John Compatore, has been a leader in bringing collaborative law to Washington State and has completed special training in this field.
